TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP
Active Chapter Member - Established Business Owner: An Active Member shall have been in business for at least two (2) years and be an experienced, growth-oriented business owner who is an individual, partner or stockholder who exercises the power to make policy decisions, is actively involved in the day-to-day management and derives livelihood from the firm. Active Members have voting rights with each member entitled to one vote.
Emerging Business Owner: An Emerging Business Owner shall be a first time business owner with a new business less than two (2) years old. Emerging Business Owners shall constitute no more than ten percent (10%) of the membership and shall have no voting rights.
Supporting Member: Individuals, corporations and organizations that subscribe to the objectives of NAWBO and wish to lend support to NAWBO through membership shall be Supporting Members and have no voting rights. Supporting Members shall constitute no more than ten percent (10%) of the membership.
Sustaining Member: Individuals, corporations and organizations that subscribe to the objectives of NAWBO and wish to support the organization in a larger monetary way are considered Sustaining Members. A member in this classification has one vote. Please contact the Membership Director or Chapter Administrator if you desire to become a Sustaining Member.
Student Member: Shall be an individual who is a student registered full time at a school or university, who subscribes to the objectives of NAWBO and intends to start a business. Student members shall have no voting rights.
Retired Chapter Member: Shall be an individual who was a Chapter or At-Large member of NAWBO for at least (5) five years and has sold, divested their interest, or is no longer in their business. A member in this classification shall have one (1) vote.
At-Large Member: Shall be a business owner as defined in the NAWBO Policies and Procedures whose business and residence are not located within a Chapter’s organization territory, and who is an individual, partner or stockholder who exercises the power to make policy decisions and is actively involved in the day-to-day management of the firm. A member in this classification has one (1) vote and is under the supervision of NAWBO. All voting members must belong to a chapter of NAWBO if one exists in their area.
